Prof. Leonard van der Kuijp Inducted into Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences

Leonard van der Kuijp, a Harvard Professor of Tibetan and Himalayan Studies since 1995, with joint appointments in the departments of South Asian and East Asian Studies, has been awarded lifetime membership in the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in recognition of his achievements.

Order of the Rising Sun Awarded to Professor Helen Hardacre

Helen Hardacre, Reischauer Institute Professor of Japanese Religions and Society, has recently been conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, from the Japanese government. One of the oldest and highest national decorations, this award recognizes Professor Hardacre’s extensive contributions to the development of Japanese studies in the U.S. and the promotion of understanding toward Japanese society and culture.

2016-17 Tazuko Ajiro Monane and Noma-Reischauer Prizes Awarded

This year’s Tazuko Ajiro Monane and Noma-Reischauer Awards Ceremony, an annual tradition co-hosted by Harvard’s Japanese Language Program and the Edwin O.
