The Chinese Language Program hosted their 3rd Film Festival last week, featuring student-produced short films entirely in Chinese language. Students from all levels from elementary Chinese (Ba and Bb) to Business Chinese (163) submitted their creations in 5 different categories: Best Performance, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, and Best Music.

The event was MC’ed by 万杰思 (Jacques Van Rhyn) and 邓安澜 (Anne Deng). Their witty banter kept us laughing in between the drama and suspense of the films. All in all, it was a wonderful evening seeing students showing off their creativity and taking their learning outside of the classroom. This year’s selection of films made it very difficult for our esteemed panel of judges, Professors Shigehisa Kuriyama, Wai-yee Li, Alexander Zahlten and Jennifer Liu, to decide on the Best Picture.

Check out the winning films here! Let us know who your favorite is!
