[*Cinematic Guerillas: Propaganda, Projectionists and Audiences in Socialist China*](https://cup.columbia.edu/book/cinematic-guerrillas/9780231206273), Prof. Jie Li's new book on the use of film as a political medium in Socialist China, has won the prestigious Katherine Singer Kovács Book Award from the [Society for Cinema and Media Studies](https://www.cmstudies.org/general/custom.asp?page=2025_awards), often considered the highest honor for an academic book in cinema and media studies. The same book also won the [UK-based Kraszna-Krausz Moving Image Award](https://kraszna-krausz.org.uk/book-awards/2024-book-awards-3/) last year, and was named a [Choice Outstanding Academic Title](https://www.instagram.com/columbiauniversitypress/reel/DDvhwykvETe/) for 2024 by the American Library Association! This prestigious distinction highlights the book's overall excellence in presentation and scholarship, its importance relative to other literature in the field, its distinction as a pioneering treatment of its subject, its originality, and its value to undergraduate students and library collections. Congratulations, Professor Li!
