Aaron Throness is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations specializing in the political history of Ming China. Aaron received his BA in Asian Area Studies (2020) and MA in History (2022) from the University of British Columbia, where his research examined the geographic statecraft thought of Qiu Jun, a 15th century Ming intellectual; his current interests center on the dynamic political relationships between princely estates in Huguang province and the Ming throne. Aaron has published essays in *T'oung Pao*, *Ming Studies*, and *Monumenta Serica*, in addition to several book reviews in *International Journal of Asian Studies* and *Asian Studies Review*. Brill published in October 2023 his first academic monograph, *Yang Tinghe: A Political Life in the Mid-Ming Court* (Sinica Leidensia, vol. 161).
