Chinese Placement Test Instructions

To register for the Chinese placement exam, fill out the survey here.

 What you should know before the exam

1.    Please make sure to register by finishing our online questionnaire.

2.    You will need to bring your laptop for the exam.

3.    Make sure Chinese input is already installed in your laptop. If you have any questions of installing Chinese input, please contact Harvard IT as soon as possible so you can have your laptop prepared for the exam.

4.    Please be on time for the exam. The online exam will only be open in our exam time (2 hours), and once it is closed, you will not be able to access the exam.

5.    Format: One part for grammar & reading and one part for composition. Also, during the exam, we will call out students individually to do oral interview.

General Instruction for the Online Placement Test:

1.    Please bring your laptop and make sure it is 100% charged (You can also bring your charger if you think it is needed).

2.    Please check your device battery constantly to make sure that you will not lose any work due to sudden power-off of computer.

3.    No switching to any other windows during exam.

4.    No use of any other tools other than the Chinese input system on the computer.

5.    No peeking at other students’ computer.

6.    Any suspicious actions on computer will lead to immediate termination of your exam.
