Hoa Le
Hoa Le (Lê T. Vinh Hoa) joins the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations in the Fall of 2022 from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa where she taught Vietnamese language courses and applied linguistics. Her research interests include Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), second language acquisition, teacher education, and heritage language learners.
Le is passionate about creating exciting and innovative syllabi and course materials tailored to meet the diverse, real-world needs of her students. She advocates for a student-centered classroom where learners engage in “learning by doing” activities, performing real-world tasks that enhance their language skills both naturally and effectively. Le is dedicated to making her classes welcoming and supportive for all students, regardless of their backgrounds and proficiency levels. She also hosts regular cultural events, offering students hands-on experiences with Vietnamese culture, making the learning journey both educational and fun.
Le received her PhD and MA in Second Language Studies focusing on Vietnamese language pedagogy from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. She earned her BS in Applied Chemistry with a minor in English Language and Literature from Kyungpook National University in South Korea.
