Huirong Ye
Huirong Ye is a doctoral student in East Asian Film and Media Studies at Harvard University. Her current research examines the archivalization and institutionalization of meteorology in modern China, focusing on how it became configured as a mediated domain through audiovisual, technological, textual, and spatial forces, where visibility, legibility, and manageability operate as ideals within evolving regimes of prediction. Her broader interests include environmental humanities, transpacific island and ocean studies, sensory history, activist media, and contemporary art. Huirong holds a BA in History of Art and Architecture and a BS in Journalism from Boston University and earned her Master of Design Studies with distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where she received the 2024 Design Studies Domain Award.
