Ph.D. Candidate in Japanese Literature

Joelle Tapas is an EALC PhD candidate in Japanese Literature. Her research is conducted through textual and visual analysis, media and object history, archival research, critical and media theory, and historiography. Her areas of interest are modern and contemporary Japanese literature, Japanese film, popular culture, media theory, social and critical theory, and postcolonial studies. She also has a background in English Literature and Philosophy. Research languages include English, Japanese, French, Tagalog, and Italian.
