Hwei Ru Ong
Ph.D. Candidate in Religion/Philosophy
Hwei Ru Ong received his MPhil in Buddhist Studies from the University of Oxford, where he worked on a critical edition of medieval Chinese Buddhist texts about Indian royalty. He is interested in reading commentarial literature (presently, that of the sixth-century, Parthian-Chinese exegete Jizang) with an eye towards Indic sources. More broadly, he is exploring the intersection of law and religion. Hwei Ru also holds a BA in Astrophysics and English & Comparative Literature from Columbia University.
