Jonah Katz
Ph.D. Candidate in Chinese Literature
Jonah Katz is a student of late imperial Chinese literature. He received his M.A. in Chinese Literature from National Taiwan University and an Honors B.A. in Asian Studies from the University of Utah. His current research focuses on the history of the Chinese novel and the fraught relationship between history and hearsay in the Song biji (notebook) genre. Jonah is broadly interested in early vernacular narrative, while specializing in early Qing scholar-beauty novels and Dream of the Red Chamber.
Jonah’s translation of “A Miser Digs New Pits and Makes a Load of Money” from the Qing vernacular short story collection A Cup to Reflect the World was recently published in Renditions.
